Admission requirements

If you would like to obtain a Bachelor's or Master's degree at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences and do not have German certificates, the following requirements must be met:

School/academic entry requirements

Prospective students with foreign certificates must submit their application documents for a degree programme at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences via the ‘Arbeits- und Servicestelle für internationale Studienbewerbungen e.V.’ (uni-assist). Our university only accepts online applications via the

Online-Portal uni-assist

Additional procedure after receipt of the application:

Not all foreign university entrance qualifications and degrees are fully recognised in Germany. We therefore recommend that you use the anabin database of the Central Office for Foreign Education. There you will find information on whether your previous educational qualifications entitle you to study in Germany.

If your school-leaving qualification obtained abroad is not recognised as a full university entrance qualification in Germany, you will usually have to take a preparatory course at a Studienkolleg with an assessment test.

Specialised admission requirements

There are specific admission requirements for individual degree programmes (e.g. proof of a pre-study internship) that must be fulfilled. You can find out what these are for your desired degree programme on the degree pragam pages.

Knowledge of German

Good language skills are an important prerequisite for a successful degree programme. International applicants for all German-language degree programmes must therefore provide proof of German language proficiency of at least level B2 with ‘Good’ or 80% of the total score according to the CEFR.

The following language certificates are accepted and recognised at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences:

Please note: Proof of sufficient German language skills is also provided if you have lived in a German-speaking country for at least three years. Native speakers are exempt from the obligation to provide proof.

Our Language Centre offers language courses during the semester to help you improve your language skills.

Knowledge of English

International applicants who are interested in an international degree programme must provide proof of English language proficiency of at least level B2 of the Gemeinsamen Europäischen Referenzrahmens für Sprachen (GER).

The following language certificates are accepted:

  • IELTS-Test (with a score of 5.5-6.0-6.5)
  • TOEFL-Test (with the score 72-94)
  • Cambridge Certificate (B2 First)
Admission restriction

In degree programmes with restricted admission (so-called ‘NC degree programmes’), only a predetermined number of study places are available. The study places are allocated according to the procedure described here.

7 percent of study places on an NC degree programme are reserved for foreign applicants. However, this does not include applicants from EU member states, as they are treated in the same way as German students under admissions law and are treated like German applicants in the application process.

There are admission restrictions for the following degree programme:

Beratung – Psychosoziale Beratung in den Handlungsfeldern Soziale Arbeit/Sozialpädagogik, Bildung und Erziehung“ (Master)
