Preparatory German course (B2)
If you would like to study a German-language degree programme at our university but do not yet have the required language skills, you can take part in this preparatory German intensive course (B2 level). To do so, you must have previously applied for a place on a degree programme corresponding to your subject-specific qualifications via uni-assist.
Please note: The German course is limited to 20 participants. Places will be allocated according to the order in which places are offered.
Please note that an application for the German course can only be made via uni-assist and is only possible as part of an application for a place on your chosen degree programme at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences. This means that in addition to a subject-specific qualification for admission to your chosen degree programme, you must also provide proof of German language skills at B1 level with the following certificates and results:
- TestDaF: 4 x TDN 3
- Goethe-Zertifikat or ÖSD: B1 ‘Good’, all modules 80 points
- Telc B2 with ‘Good’
If you fulfil the requirements, you will receive an offer of a study place from the Enrolment Office if there are still places available on the German course.
If you accept the offer of a place and all documents and proofs are submitted to the university, you will be enrolled subject to passing the Goethe B2 exam.
You are then a student at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences. You will first take part in the 6-month intensive German B2 course (annually from November to May with 4 hours of German lessons per day) in order to then take the Goethe B2 language exam. To be admitted to the exam, you must attend the course regularly and have an attendance rate of at least 70%.
By obtaining the Goethe B2 certificate with ‘Good’ or 80 points in each module, you will qualify to start your degree programme in the following winter semester.
Through conditional enrolment, you will receive student status at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences during the language course and can take advantage of all the benefits of student life at the University. You will also receive a student ID card from your enrolment office.
The transition to your chosen degree programme (participation in lectures) will only take place once you have passed the Goethe B2 exam, so that you can devote yourself fully to acquiring the B2 language level.
Attending the language course and taking the Goethe B2 exam for the first time is free of charge. If you do not pass the exam, you can register for a repeat exam, but this must be successfully passed before the start of your studies in the winter semester (from September of each year). You will then be responsible for the costs of the re-examination.
Timing:
- Application via uni-assist from April to June (application procedure)
- Subject to subject and language suitability, enrolment is subject to availability of places on the course
- Start of the German course in November - Daily participation in the German course until May
- Passing the Goethe B2 exam in May / June (repeat exam if necessary)
- Admission to the degree programme in the winter semester (starts annually in September)
