The ERASMUS scholarship is intended to help cover the additional costs associated with studying or completing an internship abroad, such as travel costs, costs for preparatory language lessons and higher general living costs in the host country. Funding is available for study or internship stays in the 27 EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Turkey and North Macedonia.
Multiple funding is permitted in the ERASMUS+ programme, i.e. a total of 12 months of funding is possible per study phase (Bachelor's, Master's and PhD cycle). These 12 months of funding can be divided into a study and practical phase. A minimum stay of two months is required for long-term mobility funding.
The amount of the monthly scholarship instalments is determined by the NA DAAD according to country groups (corresponding to the cost of living in the host country). A daily payment is prescribed according to the duration of the stay. The following categorisation and scholarship rates apply (from project year 2022)
- Group 1 (600 euros per month): Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden.
- Group 2 (540 euros per month): Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain.
- Group 3 (490 euros per month): Bulgaria, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary.
A monthlytop-up of EUR 150 is paid for an internship.
In addition, participants can be allocated top-ups and grants for the following purposes:
- Green travel
- Fewer opportunities/ disadvantaged groups
- Inclusion support/ special support
Erasmus+ Mobility with Partner Countries (KA171) is an ERASMUS+-funded student and lecturer exchange programme with partner universities outside Europe. In this measure, the International Office submits a separate application to the EUC each year for selected partners, which undergoes a qualified selection procedure. In the 2022 project, measures with partner universities in Morocco, Tunisia and Ukraine will be funded .
Requirements for an application to the ERASMUS+ programme:
- Full-time students enrolled at Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences, regardless of nationality.
- You have sufficient knowledge of the national language or the language in which the courses to be attended or the internship will be carried out.
ERASMUS+ gives students the opportunity to study in another European country and expand their social and cultural skills.
In doing so, they familiarise themselves with the academic system of a foreign university and benefit from its teaching and learning methods. After successfully completing their first year of study, students can be sponsored for a study period of between three and twelve months per study phase (BA, MA, PhD) at a foreign host university.
The programme offers students the following services:
- Support in preparing for the stay abroad
- Academic recognition of academic achievements abroad
- Exemption from tuition fees at the host university
- Mobility grant towards the additional costs incurred abroad, graded according to country groups (destination country)
Application deadline:
for the entire following academic year by 28 February at the International Office
Minimum requirements for funding:
- Duration of stay: 2 - 12 months
- The study programme may only take place at a partner university in the EU
- The selected modules must meet the requirements of the programme content
Application procedure:
Would you like to spend a study semester abroad? Find out how to apply successfully here! Fill out the application form, prepare a CV and a letter of motivation and submit all documents to the International Office. To ensure that your academic achievements are recognised, draw up a Learning Agreement - we'll show you how to do this. Follow the steps and stay in contact with the International Office to nominate yourself for the semester abroad and register at the partner university.
ERASMUS+ also funds internships for students in a host institution in another European country (EU institutions or institutions that manage EU programmes and diplomatic representations of the students' countries of origin are excluded).
Internships abroad as part of the Erasmus+ programme serve to provide students with vocational training through work placements in companies and organisations in Europe. In addition, they can expand their key qualifications such as communication and cooperation skills, openness and knowledge of other cultures and markets.
Whether an internship or a thesis can be funded depends on whether funding quotas are available and whether the content of the internship matches the content of the degree programme.
The programme offers students the following services:
- Support in preparing for the stay abroad; participation in a preparatory ERASMUS intensive language course in so-called lesser-spoken languages is possible
- EU internship contract between the university, company and student
- Support during the internship by a contact person at the home university and at the company
- Recognition of work done abroad
- Mobility grant for the additional costs incurred abroad, graded according to country groups (destination country)
Minimum requirements for funding:
- Internship duration: 2 - 12 months (per study phase in BA, MA, PhD)
- The internship should take place in a company in Europe
- The planned activity must meet the requirements of the programme content
- Students can already be sponsored in their first year of study
- New: Internship for graduates/graduates:
- Application and selection in the final year of study
- Internship after Bachelor's degree with ERASMUS scholarship
(within one calendar year after graduation)
Who cannot be the host organisation for internships?
- European Union institutions and organisations
- Institutions and organisations managing Community programmes (EU programmes)
- National diplomatic missions (embassies, etc.) of the student's country of origin in the host country
Application procedure:
- Application for funding in the ERASMUS+ programme for an internship in the winter semester by 28 February and for an internship in the summer semester by 30 September at the International Office
- Independent search for an internship position (within the EU)
- Coordinate the content and objectives of the internship with the internship coordinator in the department
- Conclusion of contract (grant agreement and training contract)
- After your return, submit the confirmation of stay and the student report(eu-community.daad.de) to the International Office.
Another option for carrying out and funding an internship is to finance a graduate internship in the EU after completing a Bachelor's degree programme in order to bridge the gap until the start of a Master's degree programme. The prerequisite for this is that the application - see Internship - is submitted during the course of study and the availability of previously unused funding months in the Erasmus+ programme during the Bachelor's degree course.
The Erasmus+ programme with its focus on European exchange offers new opportunities: 20% of the total budget may be allocated for study semesters or guest lectureships at selected partner universities outside the EU. The basis for this is an Erasmus+ agreement with these partner universities. We have around €15-20 thousand available for this every year. Enquire about the possibilities at the International Office.
