Free Mover

If you cannot find one of our partner universities that matches your wishes and goals, you can also apply directly to the university of your choice or make use of the support of external organisations.

The application procedure and admission requirements vary depending on the country and the university. The German Abitur is usually recognised as a higher education entrance qualification, but factors such as academic performance, references from professors and your CV also play a role in the selection of applicants. An academic contact person who supports your plans can be an important success factor for your application.

To ensure that your academic achievements are recognised, you should draw up a Learning Agreement and a Transcript of Records, as is the case for exchange programmes. For the exact procedure, please read the relevant section under Exchange programmes.

Please note that as a free mover you will have to pay tuition fees, which can be very high under certain circumstances. When applying to a university, you should therefore also apply for a scholarship apply for a scholarship.

You can obtain more detailed information on the application process and funding options from the International Office.
