Internship abroad
You can also complete the internships prescribed in your degree programme abroad. The advantage over studying abroad is that the preparation time is usually shorter. However, due to the different application procedures, requirements and deadlines, it is essential to inform yourself carefully and in good time.
An internship abroad is also ideal for acquiring the intercultural skills and international experience increasingly demanded by employers. An internship abroad gives you an insight into the international working world, teaches you how to deal with other cultures and allows you to put your foreign language skills into practice.
As with studying abroad, you should be clear about your personal and professional goals and clarify with yourlectureror theinternship coordinatorof your degree programme at the Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences which content criteria the internship must fulfil.
The International Office can help you prepare for internships abroad, but cannot provide you with internship placements. Your professors or the internship coordinator for your degree programme may be able to help you find a suitable internship.
Depending on the subject, there are also various organisations that provide students with help and advice and sometimes also financial support. An overview can be found on the DAAD website.
Together with the European Commission, Erasmus Student Network (ESN) has developed a web platform "ErasmusIntern". This platform aims to give students the opportunity to complete a stay abroad as part of Erasmus+ Student Mobility - Internships Abroad (SMP) and to give you easier access to companies throughout Europe.
On the one hand, students can offer themselves and their respective key competences as Erasmus+ interns. On the other hand, organisations or companies can create a profile and offer a traineeship (or several) in their company. Various search criteria (e.g. target country, subject, length of stay or desired language skills) are used to facilitate the placement of internships.
Students and companies can contact each other directly if they are interested. In order to use this practical and easy-to-use web platform effectively, a login with email address and password is required.
Finally, there are numerous internship exchanges where internship requests and offers are published. You can also find a comprehensive list on the DAAD website. The following is just a small selection:
- ERASMUSINTERN
- Central International and Specialised Placement Service of the Federal Employment Agency
- auslandspraktikum.info
- idealist.org
- CollegeCouncil

The financing options for an internship abroad are essentially the same as those for studying abroad.
Here too, the DAAD databaseoffers a good overview of subject and country-specific programmes.PROMOS-programme funds internships worldwide except in Europe and the ERASMUS+ programme funds internships (compulsory internships, voluntary internships, internships in preparation for a thesis, graduate internships) in companies in other European countries, provided funding quotas are available and the content of the internship matches the subject-related content of your studies. Further information on the funding conditions can be found here.
